Chairman
Dr. Pettigrew began his career in emergency medicine in the US Army after completion of EM residency. He worked in large academic EDs and had responsibility for multiple other areas of clinical work while in the military. Pettigrew left the military in the 1980s and moved to Athens GA to start a private, democratic EM group and oversee the emergency services for a large regional hospital. While there, Pettigrew founded a private coding and billing company that now does coding and RCM for millions of charts per year in multiple specialties across the country, with clients varying from small private practices to large multi-specialty group practices. Pettigrew is active and involved with his state medical society, state specialty society (Past President), national specialty society (Councilor), and is on the Board of Governors for the Emergency Medicine Policy Institute.

President Emeritus
More than 25 years ago, WorldSource Co-Founder and President Emeritus Rick Pettigrew left his life as a financial planner behind to take over the role of Business Manager in the emergency department where his brother-in-law was the physician in charge. Only a few months later, the two men joined forces on their own venture: A small medical services firm specializing in emergency care.
As an exceptionally goal-oriented person, Pettigrew immediately dedicated his time to becoming an expert in emergency medical coding and quickly earned the designation of Certified Professional Coder. Since that time, he has not only helped grow WorldSource Healthcare to a thriving international company, but he has also become a highly sought-after consultant, writer, and conference speaker on medical business services, coding best practices, and more.
Today, Pettigrew is a driving force at WorldSource with a focus on stability and superior customer service. Under his guidance the company remains a service provider that identifies, evaluates, and adapts to client needs, rather than providing one-size-fits-all, cookie-cutter solutions. Pettigrew prides himself on leading by example and instilling a consistent sense of clear, honest communication in everything he and his team does.
Pettigrew lives in Athens, GA, where he serves as the Chairman of the Elder Board at his church, and recently celebrated his 46th anniversary with his wife, with whom he shares 5 children and 16 grandchildren. When he's not at work, he enjoys traveling, playing basketball, and teaching as an adjunct professor at Emmanuel College.
